Sculptra Anti-Aging Facial Filler Treatment

With age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen, resulting in less volume and elasticity. While not noticed elsewhere, on our hands and face, this collagen loss creates a host of age-related problems such as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and under-eye bags. These problems can be significantly worsened by sun exposure, smoking, and pollution, in addition to genetics.

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is an FDA-approved injectable that stimulates the body’s natural collagen production over time. Sculptra is commonly used to address the underlying cause of aging and smooth out mild to severe facial wrinkles. While fillers traditionally treat localized areas, they are a beautiful and effective way to stimulate collagen production globally to the face.

Unlike traditional collagen stimulators that are used topically and are too large to penetrate the dermis, Sculptra works deep within the dermis to stimulate collagen production. As the PLLA microparticles are absorbed, the collagen threads are gradually restructured, restoring facial volume and smoothing existing folds and wrinkles.

To Whom Can Facial Filling Treatment Be Applied?

Sculptra gradually replaces lost collagen, the underlying cause of facial aging, providing natural, youthful-looking results.

If you have these concerns, Sculptra may be right for you:

  • Smile or puppet folds or lines
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Volume loss associated with aging
  • Temples that have begun to be hollowed out
  • Jowl development

If you are willing to wait for results and are available for multiple treatment sessions, you may be an ideal candidate.

Is There Any Discomfort After Sculptura?

You won’t need a lot of cuts. Many people return to work the next day, but if swelling and bruising are a concern, one to three days is usually sufficient time to rest. It’s common to get the injections on Friday and return to work on Monday. You can return to activity immediately.

On a scale of 1 to 10, most of my clients rate it as about 3, noting some tolerable pressure throughout the injection. To increase your comfort, both lidocaine and a topical numbing cream are used before the injection.
